The European Championships in Berlin are undoubtedly happy for Polish athletes. Once again, the Poles showed their strength and before the last day of the championships led in the medal table with the outcome of 9 medals.
The hammer throw competition opened the lucky time for Polish ahtletes. The gold went to Wojciech Nowicki after 80.12 m throw and Paweł Fajdek took the second place with the result of 78.69 m. Both medalists we can watch during the Kamila Skolimowska Memorial – will they be able to repeat such good throws?
The next technical competition turned out to be a mirror image of the hammer throw. The Poles dominated the men’s shot put and for the second time the two highest podium stages belonged to the white-reds. Michał Haratyk became the new European champion with 21.72 m and the runner-up was Konrad Bukowiecki with 21.66 m. What can be more exciting than double crown? It turned out that dreams come true and 27-year-old Paulina Guba, achieving the 19.33 m result, became the best European in shot put women’s competition.
On August 22 at the Silesian Stadium we will see all of the Polish champions. The gold and silver medalists of Europe will show what they can do on Polish soil.
Kamila Skolimowska Memorial will start at 16.00. The admission to the competition is free.
