Shelly-Ann Fraser-Pryce – one of the sprint superstars – will start on August 22 at the Silesian Stadium in Chorzów. Her 100-meter competition with Ewa Swoboda will be one of the most electrifying events of Kamila Skolimowska Memorial. Admission to the competition is free.
Shelly-Ann Fraser-Pryce has been the queen of the track for a decade. She has six Olympic medals and eight podiums in the World Championships. Jamaica won the 100m race twice in a row during the Olympic Games (Beijing 2008, London 2012). Her personal record 10.70 is the fourth result in the history of athletics. This year, Shelly-Ann does not slow down – during the Diamond League IAAF meeting in London, she run 100 meters in 10.98! Ewa Swoboda, with whom Jamaica will compete at Silesian Stadium, is in an increasingly better shape. During the 94th PZLA Polish Championships, Swoboda won by achieving her best result in the season – 11.12. The duel of these two sprinters will electrify fans in less than a month.
– My next start at the Silesian Stadium will be a great experience, and the competition with such a legend as Shelly-Ann Fraser-Pryce only winds me up. There will be a fight – promises Ewa Swoboda.
But not only on the track we expect the emotions! Another confirmed foreign star of the Kamila Skolimowska Memorial is Danil Lysenko. This world vice-champion from 2017 and this year indoor champion in Monaco jumped up to 2.40, aligning the best result of this year in the world! Supporters at the Silesian Stadium can certainly count on a passionate duel between the Russian and the European indoor champion Sylwester Bednarek.
In the discus throw contest, Piotr Małachowski’s rival will be Andrius Gudžius. Powerful Lithuanian is the best discobolus of last year, when he became world champion and won the Diamond League. This season also looks great, his best result of 69.59 is the second result on the world lists.
– Andrius is a great athlete and this season he is throwing really far. However, he is to overcome. Polish fans support their athletes very well and I am convinced that at the Silesian Stadium they will create such an atmosphere that I will be able to pass on all rivals with Gudžius in the lead – convinces Piotr Małachowski.
Kamila Skolimowska Memorial will take place on August 22 at the Silesian Stadium in Chorzów, beginning at 16.00. Next to Shelly-Ann Fraser-Pryce, Danil Lysenko and Andrius Gudžius, in the arena will compete other world athletics stars, including Piotr Lisek, Tom Walsh, Caster Semenya, Paweł Fajdek, Wojciech Nowicki and Justyna Święty-Ersetic.
Admission to the Kamila Skolimowska Memorial is free.
