The women’s 400 m final during the European Championships held in Berlin belonged to Justyna Święty-Ersetic, who after a great finish, won the title with the time of 50.41 s. The Pole will also run on the track of the Silesian Stadium in Chorzów.
The rivalry on the distance of one lap during the Kamila Skolimowska Memorial seems to be extremely exciting. Justyna Święty-Ersetic in Berlin won a double crown – the Polish relay 4 × 400 m on Saturday evening also won gold medals, ahead of France and Great Britain. The winning team also included Iga Baumgart-Witan, Małgorzata Hołub-Kowalik and Patrycja Wyciszkiewicz.
There is no need to present the South African, Caster Semenya. The runner is one of the most recognizable athletes in the world and in the world table of all times she was promoted to the 4th place in the 800 m run, after this year’s performance in Paris, where she achieved 1:54.24. In Chorzów, she will face Poles at a half shorter distance, but it surely will not be an obstacle for her. For Semenya it will be a debut on Polish soil and she takes it very seriously.
– I would like it to be a fast run in honor of the legend, Irena Szewińska and the great Polish traditions of this competition. I hope that I will be able to attack the barrier of 50 seconds. My personal record is 50.40, but I set it up two years ago. Now is the time to improve this result, during my first start at a meeting in Poland – said Caster Semeyna several months earlier.
The struggle between golden Polsih girls and Caster Semenya will take place on August 22 at the Silesian Stadium in Chorzów. Start of the Kamila Skolimowska Memorial at 16.00. Admission to the event is free.
